Approach

College for America offers a powerful way to develop the workforce and a low-cost benefit to retain employees. Students enter an online self-paced, self-directed model guided by their own personal coach. Assessment is at the heart of the CfA. In our Associate of Arts degree programs, students prove mastery of 120 competencies—the most relevant and needed skills in a competitive environment.

Studies focus on nine core competency clusters reflecting the priorities employers seek:

  • Communication skills
  • Critical and creative thinking
  • Digital fluency and information literacy
  • Quantitative skills
  • Personal effectiveness
  • Ethics and social responsibility
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Business essentials
  • Science, society and culture

For the Bachelor of Arts degrees, students master 120 advanced competencies, specific to their area of study, on top of the same 120 core competencies in the AA.
